Somehow your blog comes up on my e mail in Scotland !
I am a Scottish Solicitor Advocate , specialising these last 38 years in criminal defence .
Interested to read your blog .
    Keep it going .
Maybe someday you can explain what is the difference between a felony and a misdemeanour – in the context of which goes to what court . Where the threshold lies between the two

Martin, you’ve been a subscriber since September 2019. Sometimes the newsletter goes straight to spam, a terrible commentary on my writing. Most state misdemeanors are heard in county court, most felonies in district court. The divider is that, generally, if the penalty for conviction is a year and one day or more, it’s a felony; if less than that, a misdemeanor. Felons are held in state prisons, misdemeanants in county jails. Lawyers are mostly held in contempt.

Keep writing! I enjoy your blog; sometimes don’t have time to read more than the intro; but always find it is to the point and informative. Your friend in NM (where the chile is tastier and “really quite” better than Colorado’s, according to our wise governor. Janie
